- The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is an expert clinician who may practice in a specialty area with expertise in teaching, mentoring, consulting, research, management and systems improvement. The clinical nurse specialist influences outcomes by providing expert consultation to all care providers and by implementing improvements in health care delivery systems.
Labor & Delivery Services
- 4,800 annually births per year
- Antepartum care
- Maternal Fetal Medicine for high-risk pregnancy
- Cesarean deliveries
- External versions for breech presentation
- Twin/triplet deliveries
- Vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC)
- Lactation and postpartum

- \n Graduation from an accredited nursing program.\n
- \n Upon hire: Washington Registered Nurse License \n
- \n Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association \n
- \n Within 90 days of hire: National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale Certificate - NIH Stroke Scale Training Course \n
- \n 1 year of Nursing experience

Qualifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- National Institutes of Health (NIH)
- Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
- Active unencumbered Clinical Nurse Specialist Washington state license
- Graduate from a fully accredited Clinical Nurse Specialist program
- One year of work experience as Clinical Nurse Specialist
- One year of EMR experience
- Board Certified
SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
- Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills.
- Participates in relevant continuing education programs.
- Knowledge of and dedication to the highest patient care and provide the utmost service excellence to all patients.
- Ability to take initiative and to exercise independent judgment, decision-making and problem-solving expertise.
- A can-do, team oriented attitude is essential, as the ability to work independently and to interact easily with physicians, other managers and staff throughout the department and hospital.
- Effective interpersonal/communication, organizational, and the flexibility to handle multiple tasks.
